Family Visit to Charleston

Mom, Dad, and my Aunt Gale came to Charleston for a visit! Lauren and I took them to Red's for their first Charleston watering hole. Red's is located on Shem Creek. Everyone had some cold and/or frosty beverages and were able to see dolphins in the creek. The next day was busy with a walking tour and a boat ride out to Fort Sumter. It was also a very hot day. I made my family walk ALL over Charleston. Just wanted to make sure they saw everything! Hahaha!
Dad really enjoyed our visit to Fort Sumter! Really interesting history right in the harbor. We made a visit out to Middleton Plantation. Beautiful gardens and lots of wildlife, including swans, alligators, and snakes. Mom and Gale above with the Southern specialty of iced cold sweet tea.
Our last day together included a carriage tour, boat tour, and a big night out on the town. We had cocktail hour at the Pavilion rooftop bar. Great views and celebrated an early Father's Day.
We had a wonderful dinner at Peninsula Grill in celebration of my parent's 29th Anniversary. We sat at the center table and dinner was a presentation from start to finish!
I picked this restaurant purely on dessert. They are famous for their multi-layer coconut cake. It was yummy!
It was a great visit!
