Watch Out Charleston!

We are staying in Charleston for another 3 months! We are also moving downtown...so watch out! We have taken jobs in the Surgery/Trauma ICU at the same hospital. Needless to say we are very excited!

Dessert Bar with Chocolate Martinis!

Lauren and I did a little pre-planning for Lyndsey's visit. We wanted to make sure the chocolate martinis were up to our standards! (They were!)

Family Visit to Charleston

Mom, Dad, and my Aunt Gale came to Charleston for a visit! Lauren and I took them to Red's for their first Charleston watering hole. Red's is located on Shem Creek. Everyone had some cold and/or frosty beverages and were able to see dolphins in the creek. The next day was busy with a walking tour and a boat ride out to Fort Sumter. It was also a very hot day. I made my family walk ALL over Charleston. Just wanted to make sure they saw everything! Hahaha!
Dad really enjoyed our visit to Fort Sumter! Really interesting history right in the harbor. We made a visit out to Middleton Plantation. Beautiful gardens and lots of wildlife, including swans, alligators, and snakes. Mom and Gale above with the Southern specialty of iced cold sweet tea.
Our last day together included a carriage tour, boat tour, and a big night out on the town. We had cocktail hour at the Pavilion rooftop bar. Great views and celebrated an early Father's Day.
We had a wonderful dinner at Peninsula Grill in celebration of my parent's 29th Anniversary. We sat at the center table and dinner was a presentation from start to finish!
I picked this restaurant purely on dessert. They are famous for their multi-layer coconut cake. It was yummy!
It was a great visit!

Always fun to be had in Charleston!

Another fun night out with a few glasses of South Caroline "Sweet Tea"! We introduced Kelley to this wonderful beverage! Kelley is another traveler from Kentucky. She'll be staying in Charleston for graduate school. Looks like someone is interested in Lauren! Sweet Tea can make you awful social!

Hotlanta

I made a little trip to Atlanta to see a friend. I went to President Carter's Museum and Library. This is a view from the Japanese Garden on the grounds. You can see the city scape of downtown Atlanta in the break in the trees. It was very hot and humid in Atlanta. Made a trip to the Botanical Gardens. It was very pretty, but couldn't stay long because I was sweating too much. All in all it was a good visit.

Girls Night Out

Crazy Girls Night Out in Charleston! Top row: Liz and Lauren, Bottom Row: Tiffany and ME! We did a bar crawl downtown. This is Lauren with her favorite shot...Washington Apple!
Look at crazy Liz in the background!
We love Charleston! Come visit, we'll show you a good time!

Memorial Weekend in NYC

I took a trip to visit my sister, Alyson, in New York City for Memorial Weekend. We started the weekend off right with a 4 hour shopping spree at Barneys New York, that's who my sister works for. Nothing like having your own personal shopper! This is where I did most of my damage. Then we made our way over to Lord & Taylor for a shopper's lunch. This cafe was voted best frozen yogurt. We had coffee and vanilla swirl. You would never guess we're sisters, one white and one brown. After running around for some shopping and lunch on Sunday in SoHo. We saw an afternoon musical, Cry-Baby. We walked back home through Bryant Park. I love the contrast of the green trees and grass against the city scape. Did I mention the weather was perfect for my visit! We went to a neat glass blowing exhibit. It was at a cute museum that used to be a house and has an amazing courtyard you can see above. They were blowing glass below the canopy at the far end of the picture. Very impressive. We watched them make a monkey vase, which is a vase with a monkey on each sides with their tails making the handles. Not the design I would have chosen, but interesting to watch. Sister and I had a great time and she took me to the yummiest places to eat! Pizza, tapas, mexican, italian and french just to name a few. Some of you may be aware of the TV game show "Cash Cab". Well, we didn't get a ride in the cash cab, but we did find the geography cab, where we were quizzed on world and Texas geography. We didn't win any money and still had to pay for the ride, but had fun!
We also had many wonderful breakfasts and brunches during my visit. Alyson is the best hostess and vacation planner around. Hopefully my travels will soon take me to her neck of the woods....or strip of asphalt!
