Savannah

My friend Kellyn came to Savannah for a convention. So I jumped in the car for 2 hours to visit with Kellyn and Jed for the weekend. Kellyn had an afternoon of convention stuff. So I made Jed walk ALL over Savannah. We walked from one end to the other. We went to Forsyth Park which is where the beautiful fountain pictured above is located.
The weather was great all weekend. I also made Jed come with me to the home of the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Lowe. I really enjoyed the tour. For those of you who don't know. I have always been a girl scout and earned my Gold Award in high school! Yay for me!
The foodies that Kellyn and I are...had to make a visit to Paula Dean's Lady and Sons for a meal. Sunday is buffet day. Above is that picture of my plate before I started. You can't see it, but there is a huge glass of sweet tea next to my plate. Yummy!
After this picture I had a full tummy. Then we had dessert! I think my mom makes better desserts. All in all the meal was a good southern meal. I think Lady and Sons was talked up a little too much, but now we can say we've been there.
Here's a picture of the happy couple!
We had lots of fun and it was great to see my friend!

Last Night Out In Charleston

Two lovely girls enjoying their last night out in Charleston. We got together a few friends and headed downtown. One last shot of sweet tea vodka with Chris, Lauren and Tiffany.
I don't think Tiffany liked hers very much.We found a 6'8" biker that looked tough and mean, but he was really a teddy bear. Lauren liked hugging him and getting the view from below. I got a ride on his chopper! Don't worry everyone...we only went 30mph for 1 mile.
Lauren giving out kisses by the end of the night! We are really going to miss Charleston. Watch out Hawaii...you have a lot to live up to!

The Count Down Begins

We had a nice dinner with some co-workers from the MICU the other night. Don't we make a cute couple!
It still hasn't quite set in that we're actually going to be in Hawaii in just a few weeks. Want to give a big shout out to Steve, our recruiter, for making this happen so quickly and smoothly. You're the best!
For everyone else who has been following the blog since we came to South Carolina, Steve assures us that we will have the best TV stand available on Oahu! We can't wait to make the transition from Southern Belles to Surfer Girls!

Alyson to Charleston Part 2

Alyson was able to come back to Charleston for an impromptu weekend visit. We only had 48 hours to get everything in. First stop on her list was a big nasty from Hominy Grill. You gotta love the deep south; biscuits, gravy and fried chicken! The weather was a bit overcast the whole weekend...so beach time was out. We saved up our energy for a night out on the town. Here's Sister getting ready...she enjoyed a little sweet tea vodka before we headed out.
Of course we had a wonderful meal at Mercato. Super yummy Italian food. They had fun music playing and delicious Espresso Martinis. MOM: You would have loved the martini!
After we stuffed our bellies we headed out for daiquiris and dancing. We rocked the dance floor at Wet Willies! Alyson is paused on the dance floor in this picture.
After brunch the next morning...we just strolled through Charleston hitting the market, one of the waterfront parks and wandering through the charming downtown neighborhoods of Charleston.
Even though we couldn't spend the day at the beach. We still went and took a little walk. Showed her Washout Beach where the surfers like to hang ten. We found an amazing shark tooth on the beach. It was huge! Made Alyson a little worried that there was an animal with teeth that big in the water...but I pointed out that he was at least one tooth short of a full set.
One last southern dinner Sunday night including fried green tomatoes and grits, sweet tea and fried chicken with greens. We logged lots of good sister time before her 6am flight Monday morning. Nothing like a Scholz sister! Love you sister, so glad you were able to come one last time!

Jennifer Comes to Charleston

Lauren's sister, Jennifer who lives in St. Thomas, came to visit us in Charleston. She is a chef down in the islands...so I was excited to spend time with her. Had cocktail hour at a rooftop bar. We took Jennifer to one of our favorite seafood restaurants. She was impressed! I was excited to have a third person so we could get a seafood tower! Yummy!
Jennifer picked out a wonderful wine and dinner was wonderful as usual.
Me and my fabulous roommate! Headed out for a night on the town after dinner. Lots of Hurricane Parties to go to.
The Litwin's know how to have a good time!
Look at those crazy girls!

Ghost Tour

Lauren and I had a few more touristy things to do on our list and no tourists to do it with....so in the middle of August we decided to go on a ghost tour. We took a walking tour at night, where we stopped around the city hearing ghost stories. The skeleton pirate above was our guide. Don't worry, no spirits followed us home. We decided that since we had no friends or family visiting, that we should dress up as tourists for our tour. I think I did a pretty good job. Please note the white sneakers, brings the whole look together.

Goodbye Liz

We had Liz and Sophie over for Taco Night. Lauren can't wait for her Sampson to come visit us. We capped off the goodbye dinner with strawberries and ice cream. MOM: Can you see the 4th of July decorations in our ice cream? Bye Liz!

Gregory Got Hitched

Alyson Gregory got married at the end of June. Gave me a great excuse to make a trip back to Texas. Had a chance to catch up with all my girls. All of us back together! Miss you ladies.

Daran's 30th Birthday

Daran turned the big 3-0! Daran is a fellow travel nurse that worked in the MICU with Lauren and I. He has since returned to Canada, his native country, to get his MBA and leave the wonderful world of nursing. The pre-party crew. From left to right: Lauren, Daran, Leah, ME, and Tiffany. My sister took the picture. We had a fiesta for dinner. Daran was graced with the birthday sombrero, which we felt the need to pass around the table. Bring me another margarita!
The happy couple!
Finished the night off downtown, celebrating with the birthday boy...doing what we do best! It was a great birthday. We miss Daran and Leah so much! Best wishes in Canada!

Sister Came to Town

Happy Birthday Alyson!
Alyson came to visit at the end of June. I tried my hardest to show her the best of Charleston. We are at Hominy Grill in the picture above where Alyson fell in love with the "Big Nasty", the ultimate chicken biscuit. Made a visit to the only Tea Plantation in America. We toured the factory, drank tea, and had a personal tour of the plantation on a trolley. That's me climbing aboard the trolley! We had an excellent Italian dinner. Then needed to hurry to the improv show...so we jumped on a rickshaw (bike taxi) and flew down the street. Lots of laughs were had. Next night we planned for a seafood dinner at a favorite place of Lauren and I, Hank's. Then we took Alyson to the Pavilion, rooftop, bar for some night time views of the city. Explored a new beach upon Alyson's wishes. Spent an afternoon at Kiawah Beach. We had a little trouble finding the beach, but once we were pointed in the right direction...we had a nice day. A nice big flat beach with lots of natural surroundings and few people. Ali want another beer...but short on cash. One last night on the town. We went to a birthday celebration for my friend Daran. Alyson got to meet some of our work friends. We had some great fun! (Posting coming soon for the birthday celebration.) We had a late lunch at Fast and French before Alyson left. Lots of yummy food in Charleston. Ran Alyson to the airport that evening...where she sat on the plane for hours and never left the ground. Meanwhile I moved from our apartment to our new townhouse by myself. Then I get a call that Alyson would be spending one more night in Charleston. So Alyson got to be our first guest in our new downtown home.

I would like to offer my deepest apologies for not updating the blog. I have had several complaints for not posting anything new. I am just having too much fun on my days off! I'd like to throw out an early shout out to my sister! Happy Early Birthday! Only one more day in your mid-twenties! Enjoy it!

Watch Out Charleston!

We are staying in Charleston for another 3 months! We are also moving downtown...so watch out! We have taken jobs in the Surgery/Trauma ICU at the same hospital. Needless to say we are very excited!

Dessert Bar with Chocolate Martinis!

Lauren and I did a little pre-planning for Lyndsey's visit. We wanted to make sure the chocolate martinis were up to our standards! (They were!)
